"Oblong" doesn't mean "Ovular"
I have always thought that "oblong" means the same thing as ovular or oval-shaped, but the term is more general than that and subsumes also those things which are rectangular.

1. Deviating from a square, circular, or spherical form by being elongated in one direction.
2. Having the shape of or resembling a rectangle or an ellipse.
Because of this mistake, my sister and I had a laugh over this box we saw that says that they pans are "oblong" but the picture shows a rectangular pan. As it turns out, we're the silly ones!
